- Texas Hold’em: Texas Hold’em is the most popular type of poker game played in casinos and online. Each player is dealt two private cards, followed by five community cards that are shared by all players. The objective is to create the best possible five-card hand using any combination of the two private cards and the five community cards.
- Omaha: Omaha is another popular type of poker game, which is similar to Texas Hold’em but with a few key differences. Each player is dealt four private cards instead of two, and must use two of those cards in combination with three community cards to make the best possible hand.
- Seven Card Stud: Seven Card Stud is an older type of poker game that was popular before Texas Hold’em became the dominant game. Each player is dealt seven cards, with the first two and the seventh card dealt face down, and the remaining four cards dealt face up. Players must make the best possible five-card hand using any combination of their seven cards.
- Razz: Razz is a lowball poker game where the objective is to create the lowest possible hand using five cards. In Razz, straights and flushes do not count against the player, and the ace is always considered the lowest card.
- Five Card Draw: Five Card Draw is a simple type of poker game where each player is dealt five private cards, and then has the opportunity to exchange any number of those cards for new ones in an attempt to create the best possible hand.
- Caribbean Stud: Caribbean Stud is a popular poker game played in casinos, where players compete against the dealer instead of each other. Each player is dealt five cards, and must decide whether to fold or continue playing based on the strength of their hand.
There are many other types of poker games as well, each with their own rules and nuances. My personal favorite is Texas Hold’em, but the best way to find your favorite is to try them out and see which one you enjoy the most.
